Real Lovers Wear Burgundy

February 25, 2026

Hey Curvies!!!

I’m so excited to continue the first style series of the year, Shades of Love. This annual series is all about creative, confident ways to wear colors traditionally tied to love—and this year, I’m fully leaning in. Think bold reds, soft pinks, and rich chocolate hues that feel equal parts romantic and powerful.

Throughout this series, I’ll be styling a stunning red and pink fringe dress, a super cute chocolate faux leather jacket, and the most gorgeous burgundy and lavender look. Third up? This real lover burgundy and lavender moment.

I was on the hunt for a sweater that said Valentine’s Day… without actually saying Valentine’s Day. Hear me out. I already had a heart-adorned sweater for work, but I wanted something that gave real lover girl energy—soft, romantic, and intentional without being loud. When I spotted this cardigan, it was an immediate add to cart.

Styling this look was such a joy because it blends both new and well-loved pieces. Online, the model styled the cardigan with a collared shirt underneath, and I knew that layering detail was a must. I originally envisioned pairing it with a burgundy midi skirt, but since only minis were available, I opted for a form-fitting burgundy dress and layered everything instead.

To tie the look together, I pulled the lavender tones from the cardigan and added lavender boots and a matching shoulder bag—both pieces I’ve had for over four years. Proof that a great wardrobe really is built over time. I’ll do my best to link similar options where I can.

This look feels soft, romantic, and confident—the kind of outfit that whispers love instead of shouting it.

Style Notes: I’m wearing a size XL in the cardigan (I sized up for a loose, drapey fit). The collared shirt underneath is a size large. My burgundy dress is a size large, but it runs very fitted—I honestly wish I had ordered an XL (getting it over my hips was a workout). My boots are a size 11 and are several years old.
